We're seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Repair Technician to join our growing team. This isn't your average repair job – we're looking for a true "jack-of-all-trades," someone who isn't afraid to tackle a variety of repair tasks and thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You'll be our mobile problem-solver, traveling to client sites in the region to diagnose and repair a wide range of items.

The Role:

  • Diagnose and repair: You'll be the first point of contact, assessing damage and determining the best course of action for repairs. This could include anything from furniture and antiques to fixtures, equipment, and more.

  • Hands-on repairs: From structural repairs and cosmetic touch-ups to mechanical adjustments and component replacements, you'll utilize your diverse skillset to get the job done.

  • Problem-solving: Thinking on your feet and finding creative solutions to unexpected challenges will be a daily occurrence. We value resourcefulness and the ability to adapt to any situation.

  • Customer interaction: Providing excellent customer service is crucial. You'll interact directly with clients, explaining repair processes and ensuring their satisfaction.

  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and time spent on each job is essential.

  • Travel: This is a field-based position, requiring travel to various client locations around Wisconsin & Northern Illinois.

What we are looking for:

  • Mechanical aptitude: A solid understanding of how things work is a must.

  • Versatile skillset: Experience in a variety of repair disciplines is highly valued. This could include carpentry, furniture repair, painting, minor electrical work, plumbing, or other related skills.

  • Tinkerer's spirit: A natural curiosity and a passion for taking things apart and putting them back together is a definite plus.

  • Attention to detail: Precision and a commitment to quality workmanship are essential.

  • Excellent communication skills: You'll need to be able to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical clients.

  • Reliable transportation to and from various job sites.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with furniture repair and wood finishing/wood finish repair: Knowledge of wood types, finishes, and restoration techniques will give you a significant advantage.

  • Formal training or certifications: Any relevant certifications or training in repair disciplines are a plus.

  • Experience with upholstery: Skills in fabric repair, reupholstering, and working with various upholstery materials are highly desirable.

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing electro-mechanical devices: Familiarity with electrical systems, motors, sensors, and other electro-mechanical components is a plus.
