Mobile/Field Technician (Tech III)
The Mobile/Field Technician (Tech III) is responsible for providing a range of furniture repair and restoration services at various residential and commercial customer locations. This includes assessing damage, performing touch-ups, refinishing, and making minor repairs while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional image. This position requires a high degree of independence and self-management.
Responsibilities
On-site Service: Travel to customer locations (homes, offices, etc.) as scheduled to perform furniture touch-up, refinishing, and repair services.
Damage Assessment: Inspect the furniture to assess damage and determine appropriate repair or refinishing methods.
Touch-up and Spot Repair: Perform touch-ups to repair minor scratches, dents, chips, and other cosmetic imperfections using appropriate materials and techniques.
Refinishing: Refinish furniture pieces, including stripping, sanding, staining, and applying topcoats, as needed. This may be partial or full refinishing.
Minor Repairs: Repair minor structural damages such as loose joints, wobbly legs, and broken hardware.
Customer Interaction: Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, explaining repair processes and answering questions.
Material Management: Maintain and organize a mobile inventory of tools, supplies, and materials needed for on-site repairs. This includes ensuring adequate stock and proper storage.
Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain company vehicle in clean and safe operating condition (if applicable).
Scheduling and Communication: Manage daily schedule, communicate effectively with dispatch and customers, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and meets customer expectations.
Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a safe work environment 1 at customer locations.
Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, invoices, and customer sign-offs.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Furniture Touch-Up, Refinishing, and Repair Technician or in a related field. Experience in a mobile service environment is a plus.
Knowledge of different wood types, finishes, staining techniques, and repair methods.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and touch-up/refinishing equipment safely and effectively.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to different situations.
Ability to lift and move furniture pieces.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record (essential).
Reliable transportation to and from jobsites.
Ability to pass a background check.
